Victim of MIL

My husband has RARELY stood up for me to MIL.  I truly believe that she is NOT HAPPY unless she is going out of her way to spend her energy on being a hateful person and creating MISERY.  She clearly recognizes and even INVENTS, I dare say, the faults of others.  Meanwhile, believes that she can do no wrong.  It is SO ANNOYING.  She is the MEANEST person I have ever met, and I have met MANY.  She outshines even the meanest of my high school bullies!  From DAY ONE she has looked at me with nothing but CONTEMPT.  She is always looking for something to trip me up on and to find fault with.  She tells me that I am raising my children in filth, yet my home is immaculate (most of the time, LOL).  Who is SHE to tell me that I am raising them in filth when SHE CHAIN-SMOKED throughout her entire pregnancy with my DH and continued to smoke throughout his childhood (FILTHY ashtrays all over her home with little children!).  She always blames it on science not proving the health risks of smoking until recent years.  BOLOGNA!  She tells me that I am not a fit parent, yet I home school my children.  They are learning to play guitar, piano and violin (I am teaching them myself and they play beautifully!).  She tells me that I am not doing enough for my youngest child, who has autism (my 2 youngest children have been diagnosed with it), yet I am following the recommendations of the school district by sending him to speech twice a week for services.  This woman is PURE EVIL, no doubt about it!

By the time our second child was born, my MIL was really feeling the hatred towards me.  Nothing I could ever do would please this miserable woman.  DH is her youngest of three children, and all her children have big time issues.  One is a hypochondriac, one is an alcoholic, and my DH has addiction issues, which is why we have been living separately for 6 years.  Unfortunately, MIL lives less than 2 miles from my house, so I can literally feel her negative vibes on a fairly regular basis.  We have gone for up to 2 years at a time without speaking.  I have been married to her son for 11 years.  We are currently not speaking again.  I'll leave the details of that for another story submission, LOL.  When my DD was 4 months old, the PILs came to our lopsided apartment (his GPs were slum lords and I got suckered into moving back up north with the promise of a "really nice apartment" -what a joke!)  The next thing I knew, I was standing in the corner of my living room with both of my ILs calling me horrible names, all in front of my 2 year old and my 4 month old (who was IN MY ARMS at that moment!).  They told me that I "trapped" their son into marrying me!  Let me first clarify that I did no such thing.  In fact, when I was pregnant with our first child, I ended up LEAVING him and moving to another state to have my child.  I started my life OVER and was in a NEW RELATIONSHIP with a handsome pro baseball player.  I BROKE UP with my baseball player to MARRY THEIR SON.  If anyone had gotten "trapped", it was ME.  I am trapped into this miserable family of his!

A week before my SIL's wedding her mother (my monster-in-law) called me to ask, "What are you planning on wearing to the wedding?"  I said, " A dress, why?"  I hadn't even gotten a dress for it at that point.  She said, "Well, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't going to wear something and try to show up the bride.  This is HER day, not YOUR day."  I said, "FINE, whatever.  I don't even have a dress yet."  She said, "Well, make sure that it matches with the colors of the wedding, which are black and white."  Since we were so broke on account of all of DH's constant gambling, I literally went to a thrift store THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING and bought a long RED ball gown for $5!  Imagine my surprise when I realized at the checkout that since it was Sunday, it was HALF OFF!!!  So, I bought this incredible dress (ok, it wasn't incredible YET, but I could see it's potential, LOL - with some minor alterations, I knew I could make it look cute).  I bought the dress for $2.50!!  LOL.  When I walked in, the look my monster-in-law had on her face was priceless!  DH's paternal GM stood up in the pew that she was sitting in and said OUT LOUD, and EVERYONE HEARD, "WOWWWWWW!  You look like a BEAUTIFUL SPANISH SENORITA!!!  Wherever did you get that gorgeous dress??"  To which I replied, " Oh, this ole' rag?  I just picked it up, as a matter of fact, THIS MORNING at a THRIFT SHOP!  Can you believe it was only TWO DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS - HALF OFF?"  I said it just as loudly as she had made her comments/questions to me!  LOL (imagine how the sound bounced all over in that big, spacious church).  At that moment, MIL was MORTIFIED.  Later on my SIL was equally MORTIFIED. Here my $2.50 dress looked 100 times sexier and nicer than her $800 frumpy wedding dress.  I cannot stress enough how ALL EYES were ON ME!  HA!  Literally everyone, that is, except my MIL and SIL came up to me to comment on the dress throughout the reception.  Too funny.  Even my drunk FIL made a PASS at me at that wedding!!!  And to this day my MIL has NO IDEA!!!!

Signed - They Are ALL IDIOTS!!!

The very first time that I was introduced to DH's mom, the exchange went something like this:  "Mom, this is my girlfriend."  She responded, "Why are you wearing that color lipstick with that nail polish??"  There was no, "Hello, nice to meet you," or, "How are you?", etc. Just immediate criticism.  I had a feeling then that this was only the beginning.
