My FMIL is the nosiest person whom
I know. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is sacred. She
will call just to be nosey. Here is a sample: Where's
my son? What's he doing? Who's he with? What's
he wearing? Is he wearing clean underwear? Did he eat
yet? Is he going to call you? How was his day today?
Is he working overtime? When is he coming back? What
are you doing? Who are you with? What are you eating?
What are you going to do? Who are you going to see?
Are you going out? How much $ will you spend? When did
you get home? Did you drive the new car today? You went
out to eat? How much was dinner? What was on the menu?
What was the atmosphere? Who was your waitress? How
big are the portions? What kind of toilet paper do you use?
Do you need anything from the store? Are you working every
day? Sometimes I wonder if MIL's on drugs I always want
to drive her crazy, like she drives me crazy. I don't think
it's possible. Every time I think that she has shut up, nope,
there she goes again. No joke. This is how every conversation
is with this woman. Every time I feel like I do something,
I have to lie to her just so the questions will stop.

It's funny that for eleven
years I really tried to get my MIL nice birthday and Christmas gifts.
If it were up to DH, he would pick out a sweater, or something to
that effect, and that would be the end of it. BUT, I always
felt that if it wasn't a nice gift, it would fall back on me.
However, it has always irritated me. Anyway, she hinted for
what she wanted, and it was always some very expensive item.
For instance, last year it was a very pricey diamond necklace.
Then, weeks before her birthday she called and reminded everyone,
"OH, so and so got me this," etc. Well, considering
that I have never gotten a birthday gift (except once I got a cr@ppy,
junky whatnot), and my Christmas gifts are yard sale items, I realized
that I shouldn't care - she's not my mother! But, what really
took the cake was when she got mad because she didn't get a present
from her sister for her birthday. She made a big tadoo, saying,
"You give presents because you care. What the he!!, she
must not care about me?" So, from now on I told DH that
he can buy her gifts. I am finished. If it was up to me,
she wouldn't get anything, as she owes us money anyway. Well,
as suspected, last weekend, the day before our visit, DH bought her
a $20 sweater that was on sale (not that I think that's a bad gift).
But it's not what she hinted! about!!!!!!!!! LOL.

I honestly never felt comfortable with my MIL watching
my daughter, so I never asked her to baby-sit. First of all,
she smokes, and I don't want that around my daughter. Secondly,
she annoys me. Well, one day at her mother's house DH's entire
family was over and his cousin was telling me that if I ever needed
a baby-sitter, she would watch her. Well, my MIL said, "She
probably will never ask you, because she doesn't even let me baby-sit."
I thought, "What a b!tch." So, I said to his cousin,
"Well, actually, we have something to do next weekend, so you
can come by and watch her then. That's what she gets for opening
her big mouth.

That was kind of vindictive and mean on your part, I have to honestly
say.
RESPONSE: cantstandja
Instead of calling her a b!tch, take the mature approach and explain
why she shouldn't be baby-sitting. It could be good motivation for
her to quit smoking.

My MIL and her family feel the need to let everyone
know everything great that someone in the family has done. MIL
has gone as far as making up stories about people to make them look
better. It doesn't help that she has the biggest freakin' mouth
in the world. Do you need proof? Since she is young and
never really had a steady job, she sits around all day on the phone
with her sisters, who also never worked. She talks for hours.
One month, her phone bill was $650, and she is the only one who talks
on the phone. Thank god she doesn't call me anymore. One
day, DH's cousin, whom I hardly ever talk to, started asking me about
things that I never told her. I guess that DH must have told
her and she told everyone. Another time, DH's little brother
came over and decided to spend the night. He called his mom.
Well, I overheard his conversation, and I could tell that his mom
was asking him who was there, if we had had any friends over , if
he got to play with my daughter (his niece), what we did, if he ate,
if we ate ,what we ate, where my husband was, where my daughter was
(at midnight), where I was, on and on. Later that week, I was
talking to his cousin and she said, "I heard that you guys had
so and so over last week and you guys did such and such."
I was sooooooooo annoyed.

Any time she asks a question, ask a question back. Why do you want
to know that? What makes you think that I would tell you that? Don't
you think that is personal? Never answer her questions. She will
stop asking.
