Ok, here's our situation: We live with MIL
and GMIL. GMIL pays the rent with her social security.
In return for living rent free, MIL takes care of GMIL at night,
and I take care of her during the day (at least that's how it's
supposed to work - most nights, MIL is out drinking, so I still
watch GMIL). Oh, I pay for all the groceries, and any phone
calls that I make, and we split the gas bill. Back when
I was pregnant, DH joined a discount club for vitamins/supplements.
We got a bottle of men's vitamins, and a bottle of women's vitamins
for joining. As I was taking prenatal vitamins, I put my
bottle aside, intending to take them after I had the baby.
Well, imagine my surprise when I went to take some vitamins, postpartum,
and found only 3 left!! MIL had opened them and started
taking them without even asking!!! So, flash forward a few
weeks to me starting a low carb diet. MIL has been on a
low carb diet for about a year. I went out and bought myself
a bottle of special low carb vitamins - very expensive.
I even thought to myself, "I better hide these so that MIL
doesn't take them all." So, I put them up behind the
cereal. In fact, I hid them so well that I forgot about
them, LOL. When I was moving cereal boxes today, I found
them. I was really happy, until I found that out of the
70 pills that were in the bottle, only 30 were left. Yes,
MIL has been taking them and then re-hiding the bottle.
She also eats all my expensive, low carb foods, and buys herself
low carb treats to keep at the office. Whereas, she scarfs
the stuff that I buy before I get a chance. I bought a 4
pack of yogurt Tuesday night, and woke up Wednesday morning to
find that it had already been opened! And yet, if I say
anything about it, she will respond by saying that, since we're
living here rent free, buying groceries is the least that we can
do. Well, she's living rent free, too! And, I take
care of GMIL 80% of the time, so why don't I get free groceries?!
Or, she should at least stop eating my vitamins!!

THE SAGA CONTINUES!!!!! Yesterday, MIL (who only visits and phones
on evenings that I work, and hasn't seen or spoken to me in over
a year) asked DH if she could take DD and DS during the school holidays
DD is 13, and doesn't want to go, partly because MIL insists on
her having a bath there. MIL stands in the bathroom and tries to
wash her, despite the fact that DD has the figure that I had at
18! DS is 8, but MIL denied that he was her GS at one time, and
she insists that he use a baby feeding cup to drink out of, so he
doesn't spill. DH said no, not unless she speaks to me about it
first (as I am the one looking after the children during the day).
She replied that I would say no (which is a fair comment, I probably
would, due to above reasons and 15 years worth of others!). DH
then pointed out that as we are partners, he would not go behind
my back and make arrangements. She replied that he was stupid,
because if SHE wanted to take the children out, HE should let her,
and not worry about what I think (I'm only their mother, after all)!
MIL didn't give him a chance to reply, she just stormed out to FIL
(who was already in the car, waiting to leave), and they left.

RESPONSE: They Left
Do something nice for your DH tonight, he sounds great!
RESPONSE: They Left
Your MIL has serious issues!
RESPONSE: They Left
Congrats on having the world's best husband! What kind of a sicko
insists on bathing a 13 year old developing girl?
RESPONSE: They Left
Good. I hope that they stay away. Your MIL does not know how to
treat your children, and she should not be left alone with them.
RESPONSE: They Left
You poor thing. Never leave your children with her, it will scar
them for life! Is it a mixed blessing that my nasty MIL is not
interested in our children (her own grandchildren?). Good for your
partner for standing up to her.
RESPONSE: They Left
It's a good thing that you have your DH on board. Don't let your
kids alone with those toxic people, ever, and make sure your DH
knows that. Her wanting to wash your 13 y/o DD is creepy and wrong.
RESPONSE: They Left
Good, let them leave. What your MIL does to your kids is disgusting!
It seriously makes me shudder. How do your kids feel about being
with their grandmother? Does your DH know what she does and how
she makes them feel?
RESPONSE: They Left
Tell your MIL that the next time she attempts to "wash"
your 13 year old daughter, you or DD will file a police report.
What MIL is doing is sexual abuse, and should be stopped.
RESPONSE: They Left
Your DD doesn't want to go to GM's because she is being molested!
You need to immediately report this to the police and press charges.
Parents who don't protect their children from harm can be charged
themselves.
RESPONSE: They Left
Your DD is 13, and MIL stills wants to bathe her? As in, like she
were a baby? That is not gross, it reeks of sexual abuse. Do not
allow your children to be alone with this woman! When you take
into consideration that she still wants your son to drink out of
a sippy cup, and she thinks that you should have no say-so if she
wants to take your children someplace, there is something seriously
wrong with this woman. I get a vibe that if she ever has to face
the reality that your children are growing up, she may go over the
edge and do serious harm to them.
