When DH and I got married, we each had one attendant.  We had a small wedding that we paid for ourselves.  It was lovely, as nice as we wanted it.  People still talk about how beautiful it was.  Fifteen minutes before we were to walk down the aisle, MIL came to me and asked me to find a five year old girl to be flower girl.  I told her that we were not having a flower girl.  I said that there was no girl available, and all we had in my family were nephews in that age range.  What MIL would try and put a flower girl in fifteen minutes before the wedding is to take place?  Obviously, one who wants the whole thing to be a circus!  This is her typical behavior.  She is used to running all the shows, and I am not one to be pushed around.

DH works very hard, often times from home.  There have been times when he has been deep into a project late at night or early in the morning.  On several occasions I have actually gotten up out of bed for him and run to the local mini-mart to get him a soda.  When my MIL heard that I did this for him, she commented to FIL, "Gee, she really does love him."  This was done in a less than flattering or kidding tone.

Worst gift:  My MIL is great at making a huge production of Christmas.  The amount of presents that I do or do not get really does not matter to me, it is the rudeness of this that is sick.  Several years ago DH, DS and I went to MIL and FIL, as invited.  While there, the ILs made a great production of the gifts that they gave their DS and GS.  They very ceremoniously brought out box after box and large bag after large bag of things for the two of them.  This went on for well over an hour.  There was so much stuff that it barely fit in our large SUV when we left to go home.  There was not a single gift for me, even though we had brought several nice gifts to their home for their pleasure.
