My SIL never missed one opportunity to offend me.  She always "chose" to attack me when we were together in her kitchen.  When I was out of work and looking after my year old son, she asked me how I was.  Before I answered she said, "Oh, it is very easy not to work and pay the bills."  Years later, when I returned to full-time employment, again, in her kitchen she asked how I was.  She immediately said, "It is very easy to work full-time when you have a husband who does all the bloody work."  This could not be true, as her dear brother was traveling all the time and left me looking after the children, working full-time, without a car!  The B!TCH had a helper, a car, a checkbook, and she NEVER worked outside her home.

Worst gift:  OK, this is a doozy.  Dear, sweet monster-in-law (meant MIL) gave me her mother's 10 carrot bangle bracelet for me to save and give to my DD.  Great, I thought.  A year later she called and asked for it back.  Apparently she forgot what she told me, and she told my SIL that she would give it to her DD.  I agreed, and gave it back.  I got a really nasty letter saying that I damaged it and that she wanted a written apology or she would tell my DH.  I showed him the letter.  He had a few choice words with her, and now we are outcasts.  She has always been nasty, competitive and jealous her whole life.  She even hated her own mother.  See, being nice doesn't always work out.

Worst gift:  A year ago I gave my MIL a t-shirt from an old sitcom that I'd had for a long time, because I asked her to make it into a pillow for me.  She never gave it to me, so I never asked her.  The other day she handed me a bag, and said to me, "Oh, I picked this up for you.  I thought you would like it."  I opened the bag, surprised at her generosity, and saw my old T-shirt sitting in the bag.  I said, "Oh, you shouldn't have".
