My SIL and I still had a good laugh at this one.  We married brothers whose mother swears up and down that she taught her boys how to cook, clean, and take care of their own homes.  In the first year that we were together I had to explain to DH that the bed sheets that were all the same color all went on the bed at the same time, and that while having a blue pocket sheet, white top sheet and four different color pillows was amusing the first time, it was a royal pain when it came to sorting colors for laundry.  At this point, DH looked at me, puzzled about the idea of sorting laundry by color.  BIL still has trouble with the idea that the sheet with the pockets is made to wrap around the mattress, and that he really doesn't have to buy flat sheets a size bigger than the bed so that he can tuck them under.

This story is about MIL telling a couple how many children to have.  I was in the hospital after birth of my second DD.  I was on morphine, I couldn't move, I had my 2nd cesarean, the baby had the cord wrapped around her neck, and I was exhausted.  MIL came in, proclaiming that she had brought a yellow sleeper as a gift, so that we could use it on the next one - that baby would be a boy!

Worst gift:  This year at Christmas I was seven months pregnant.  MIL somehow saw fit to buy me a jogging suit (the kind that swishes when you walk) in a size that would have been way too small even if I wasn't pregnant.  The really bad part was that I have been with DH for almost three years and I have NEVER worn anything that even resembled this horrible outfit.  Did I forget to mention that my MIL and I absolutely despise each other, and haven't spoken in over a year.  She also refuses to acknowledge my pregnancy or her soon to be GD, but she bought presents for my DH's ex-wife's stepchild.  This woman is seriously screwed up.  The only good news is that my mom and I laughed about this present for days.  I think that this Christmas I am going to give her a membership to one of those services that delivers fruit each month.  I know that looking at six pounds of fruit every month for twelve months will drive her crazy, especially when she knows that it is from me!!!!
