When I got engaged, we told my parents first.  His parents were so disappointed that we had ruined THEIR big day.  When we decided to get divorced, I made sure that we told them first, so they could "enjoy their magic moment"

I have only been married for eight months.  Last spring, when I had my shower, MIL did not come because she had yard work to do.  She told me that she "just had to get these flowers in the ground before they died".  It was not like anyone was in the hospital, or something major had happened.  She had to get her yard ready for spring.  She did not even tell me that she was sorry or anything.  I thought that she would show up for sure, but I was sadly mistaken.  I got to thinking that she could have easily not bought the flowers until the next weekend, so they would have lived long enough to get in the ground.  At least I see where I rate to her.

Worst gift:  Worst Christmas Gift:  A blender and a diet shake!  How subtle is that?  I have a new and improved MIL now who gives great gifts!
