Good Lord, I hate my ILs, except my FIL - he's a dear.  My MIL is a spoiled little rich girl who has always ALWAYS gotten her way.  She uses money to manipulate people and expects her kids to always be at her beck and call.  When my DH and I first got together, his mother would come to town and he was expected to do nothing but what she wanted him to do for months at a time.  This included driving her EVERYWHERE, talking to her, or doing nothing that wasn't with her.  He was also expected to do EVERYTHING for his sisters just because they're flaky.  This has since stopped, but now he's being punished for it.  His mother lives in another country, but comes to visit his sister in the states for months at a time, and yet she can't find time to visit him for a weekend.  His mother is such a b!tch that she once locked herself in a bedroom at my aunt's house for hours.  She sat in there crying and demanding that first my DH come in there to console her, and then her DD, and then my DH, and over and over.  This was, of course, my fault because my GF was dying, so we couldn't take her shopping.  Dying relatives can be SUCH an inconvenience.  I still want to kill her over that.

After we got engaged DF and I started looking at possible reception sites for the wedding on our own.  We did not invite MIL to go.  I wanted it this way because she has a tendency to contradict my DF when he says that he doesn't like something.  Her immediate response is always, "What's wrong with you?  It's fine.  There's nothing wrong with it," like she knows so much more than him.  She's always held a bit of a grudge for that, in my opinion.  Since we got engaged, she's been raving about a particular band.  She had them hold our wedding date so they could play the wedding, without ever asking us if we would prefer to have a DJ instead.  The other day she told me that we needed to go put down the deposit, and that we were supposed to go two weeks before, but something came up and we didn't go.  She never even told us about the appointment!!!!!

I have a MIL from he!!, but wanted to start with a story about my SIL (my brother's wife).  When they started dating and my brother still lived at home, she would walk into my mother's home without an acknowledgement to any of us, try to take over my mom's house and say rude things about my mom.  She said that my mom was fat, and even bought my size-small mom size large underwear for Christmas one year.  She would also go into my room without permission and call my brother on my private line (that I paid for).  She wanted to talk to him for hours - at all hours of the night.  That was only the beginning.  I know many of you might say that we are jealous that she has my brother, or whatever.  That is not the case.  I have other SILs who get along great with the family.  I understand that my brother loves her and I have tried for years to get along with her.  She had a birthday party for my brother and didn't invite any of his family, yet she invited our family's very best friends, who were quite shocked that none of his family were there.  Needless to say, our friends do not like her either, after that one.  It just keeps getting worse.  She refused to go to the rehearsal dinner (my brother was in the wedding) and did not say one word to me or my DH at our wedding.  She also did not talk to anyone in my family and refused to sit with the family.  Another SIL (#2) had saved her a seat and she screamed at her in the church that she would not sit there.  Then she expected me to have a baby shower for her, even telling my mom that she was "banking on it", yet she never asked me or talked to me about it.  There was no way in heck that I was going to do that after the way she acted at my wedding.  Things have gone downhill since then.  I didn't even get an invite to the baby shower that she forced her mother and sister to have, since I wouldn't do it.  I thought family wasn't supposed to throw showers?
