My FIL is one of the most controlling, manipulative human beings I know.  I have many stories about how he cannot accept that his son is all grown up and doesn't need him anymore.  On our honeymoon he called us EVERY DAY on DH's cell phone for no reason except to chat (e.g., "Happy First Day of your Honeymoon" and "Happy Second Day of your Honeymoon", etc.).  Finally, after putting up with his interrupting us at inopportune moments (it was our honeymoon, after all!), my DH finally lost his temper and asked his DF to quit calling us!  We were on our way home the next day, so I guess it really didn't matter.  One would think that FIL doesn't trust DH to "do a honeymoon" right!  Talk about creepy!

My MIL claims that I am a gold digger.  No gold digger in her right mind would be driving a 14 year old car and shopping at discount department stores.  My SIL, her DD, however, is a money grubbing whore.  Her DH is in Iraq, earning money tax free.  SIL is spending all the money and not saving it to buy a house, as they agreed.  Last week she flew to Vegas with another man and spent the week there.  MIL says, "It's her money, and she can spend it as she pleases."  I went out to lunch once with an old friend, a male, from middle school.  She found out and told my DH that I'm obviously having an affair.  Her boss bought SIL a BMW and she has "meetings" with him in the evening on weekends.  Yet, MIL says, "You just don't understand the nature of her job."  She works at a car rental agency.  I don't see how that makes sense.  I hate her.  I hate that my innocent actions are given such a horrible slant and that the really bad things my SIL is doing to her DH are easily explained away.

My MIL is forever borrowing money, 10 here, 20 there.  Her famous line is, "I'll pay you when I get my social security check."  I never see the money because it's one excuse after another.  But, if I ask her for a quarter or a dollar, she will write it down and bug the he!! out of me till I pay her back.  Also, that twenty five cents becomes a buck and that dollar becomes two.
