My BIL is a little slower
than everyone else, but he is obnoxious about it. He has a much
lower IQ than my DH or me. He is not retarded by any means, but
he can't learn in a classroom like we can. He left high school
last year. He has taken the graduation exam TWELVE times, and has
failed it TWELVE times. My DH said that if he took the test in
9th grade, he would have passed. (I was in private school and not
required to take it). So, my MIL pays for BIL to take the graduation
test over and over again. Now she wants him to get a job as an
electrician with my DH. My DH told her that there is no way in
HE!! he could pass the entrance exam to get into the school, because
even he had a hard time with it. And he had "A"s in Calculus
in college. Not to mention, you have to have a HS diploma to enter
(BIL does not have a diploma because he cant pass the test). But,
MIL refuses to believe him and is pushing BIL to take the test.
At $40.00 a test, how many thousands will it take before she gives
up?

I was at a family gathering
with my DH's family, DH was not there. Everything seemed to be
going all right until MIL broke out the comment to her DD, "Make
sure you let me know when your next ultrasound is going to be so
I can schedule time off from work." I don't know if she meant
it to be such a slap in the face to me, but it sure seemed like
it. She hasn't missed 1 of her DD's ultrasounds, but she hasn't
been able to make either of my children's. Too bad she doesn't
know what she is missing. People can be so cold-hearted, especially
my MIL.

Worst gift: A few months
ago I was diagnosed with uterine cancer and had to undergo a complete
hysterectomy. For my 24th birthday, 2 weeks after I got home from
the hospital, I received a free visit to a fertility specialist.
The card read that they thought we could "use the help,"
since we were taking so long to "get pregnant".
