For our tenth anniversary MIL bought DH $400 worth of shirts and ties, and got me NOTHING.  Not even a card.  She also took down all the hearts and flowery type decorations that I put up that I had saved from post Valentine's Day sales.  I use them to decorate during our anniversary month (May).

Worst gift:  After repeatedly asking for no more tacky knickknacks, on our 2nd anniversary, I was given a large, ceramic relish tray in a maple leaf shape.  The dimensions made it hideous; about 2 ft by 2 ft, and in a 1970's puke green with gold accents.  Not only that, but it was used and had a corner broken off!  I can't get rid of it because she claims that she paid over 40 dollars for it at an antique store.  Why!?!  She knows I do NOT cook or entertain.  It's a slap in the face.

Worst gift:  For my birthday one year (we had been married a few years and they knew me quite well) my ILs had me over to celebrate.  They were going to do something special for me.  They cooked my DH's favorite dinner, and the cake was my DH's very favorite (opposite of what I like).  They gave me a gift of a turkey roaster (to cook one of DH's favorite foods, I'm sure), and the entertainment was sure to please my DH - a pay-per-view event of wrestling (which I had to help pay for, and I hate wrestling).  It was my birthday, but at least my DH had a good time.  I love them to pieces, and usually they are great in the gift department, but this year they were something else!  We both learned something.  I learned how my DH would love to spend a birthday, and they learned that I would just enjoy a card or a call on my birthday (which works out fantastic - maybe this is why his father thinks I am ungrateful to them).

Signed - No Birthday Gifts, Please
