My experiences seem to be quite unique, as I have continuously searched the web for comfort and similar experiences.  There is so much for me to say.  I will try to narrow this down for now.  The thing that hurts the most is that my MIL has taken advantage of my lack of self esteem and expression from the very beginning.  These things range from her running me out of the bathroom while I was seated, to telling me that my life would be over once I had children, to telling me that my hair was my only good feature, to putting me down for seeking treatment after a car accident that was not my fault.  And, last, but certainly not least, trying to force her brother's children on me.  I am in tears as I write this.  However, the last laugh will be mine.  She hints around about the children to no avail.  She has even tried to involve a friend.  I told her from the get go how I felt before there was even a problem.  She must have felt like she had a foolproof plan to eating the icing off my wedding cake.  Oh, I forgot to mention that she once hinted around about staging an accidental death for me.  She does want to play games.  I always plan on being a couple of steps ahead of this monster.

My DH and I were expecting our first child.  I had washed all of the clothes and put them in the little chest that we had in the baby's room.  MIL came over for a visit..  We showed her what we had set up.  She put one of the sleepers over her shoulder and started patting it like there was really a baby in it, and babbling about how she couldn't wait until the baby got here.  This was to be her 4th grandchild, so it was not like she didn't have any GC.  It freaked me out.  I was scared that she was going to steal my baby.  I also worked with her.  She announced, in front of a lot of coworkers, that she was surprised I was expecting.  She was worried that DH had been left sterile by the mumps when he was a little boy.  I am sure he would have loved that.

Worst gift:  I have the worst Christmas gift story ever.  This Christmas, my MIL gave DH and me one of those electric toothbrushes.  This would have been an ok gift except for the fact that it was one toothbrush for us to share.  But, she did buy replacement heads to be interchanged.  If this was not enough, at the same party my SIL gave us both a netty pot to share.  If you do not know what this is, that is OK  I thought it was a gag gift.  It is a little pot (kind of like a tea pot) that you fill with water and salt.  Then you put the pot in one nostril, tilt your head, and the water comes out the other side.  It is suppose to clean your sinus cavity out.  If someone can top my Christmas this year, I feel sorry for you.

        Signed - Merry Christmas
