frequent fry her - Beebs Frequent Fry Her TM. - Beebs, 1 of 4 needed/Posted: 12-FEB-08
When DD was 17 months old, my darling MIL nearly poisoned her - twice.  DH was trying to be nice to his parents and invited them to ride with us in our car to a wedding.  So, there we were, jam packed into our SUV.  I was in the middle of the back seat, smushed into the side of DD's car seat and 7 months pregnant.  MIL is sitting on the other side of me.  MIL then took out some bread that she brought with her and started tearing pieces off to give DD, over me.  Bread crumbs look very nice on a black dress.  Our car was filled with toys.  The whole floorboard of the back seat was pretty much covered.  Was this good enough for MIL?  Nope.  She started handing things to DD out of her purse.  Suddenly, I looked over and DD was happy as a clam, holding a baggie of pills!!  I quickly grabbed them away and passed them back to MIL who exclaimed, "I didn't know she can open zippers!"  Yeah, because zippers are a great way to toddler-proof.  Not 2 weeks later, we ended up going over to my ILs house.  I found out, when we were digging a pill out of DD's mouth, that MIL had just taken them and left them totally free (not even in a baggie anymore) on the counter.  So much for a GM keeping harmful things away from a child.

Considering how much my MIL seems to love my children, it's absolutely amazing how many times she's come close to seriously harming or even killing them!!  Incident #1.  When DD was 16 months old, we were moving her out of the nursery and into her own room.  Since we were painting her new room, DH decided to call his mother and have her watch DD for us while we painted.  MIL came and picked up DD, and took her back to her house.  When we finished, DH and I went over to my IL's house to pick up our child.  When we got there, MIL was in the kitchen.  She proceeded to ask me, "Do you let her play like this at your house?"  I looked over, and my 16 month old DD was playing with all the cleaners under the sink!!!  I basically screamed, "NO," at her.  I don't know how her 4 children survived, if she didn't even have the common sense to know that you aren't supposed to let a child play with cleaners.  And, to think, miss genius is a teacher.

MIL runs a boutique in a mall.  Recently, I had to work at another shop at the same mall, so I went there.  Her shop was closed, as she keeps it shut for that particular day of the week.  I noticed that she had put a dress on sale that I had gifted her a year ago (her shop has glass walls)!  I was shocked, and called DH to tell him what I had seen.  He asked me to confront her directly, which I did the same evening.  She made a lot of fuss.  She accepted that it was the same dress.  She kept repeating that she took the dress to her shop for some extra work to be done and that her salesperson "by mistake" put the dress on display for other people to buy.  What happened to HER eyes when this was being done is a mystery to me.  I don't believe her, and I told her that she is making up excuses.  I also told her that I had given her the gift, and now it was her choice if she wished to make some money off of it.  I said, "I am bringing this up just to let you know that I'm aware of what has been done."  On her next occasion, I'm giving her cash in an envelope so that she doesn't have to trouble herself by selling the gifts.  Also, it will save my time and energy to not have to look for the right color/pattern for her.  How I wish to have a boutique where I could sell all the things which she had gifted me so far.
