MIL had a garage sale on an unseasonably cold spring day.  Temp's were near freezing and snow was forecast.  She called DH and me to come over and "help with crowd control".  What crowd?  No one came.  MIL stayed inside, while DH and I sat in the unheated garage.  If we went inside to get warm, MIL yelled at us to get back out there.  After a couple of hours, DH found his backbone and sneaked us out through the backyard.  We circled the neighbors' house to get back to our car, and drove away without MIL knowing.

Worst gift:  My MIL gives some pretty horrible gifts.  She always asks us what we want for Christmas, and rarely gets us anything that we have asked for.  Last year, she called me and asked if we would use a GPS.  My response (in my head) was, "Wow, that's a great gift."  But, I told her to talk to my DH first, because his company was thinking about buying one that we would also be able use.  I guess she never talked to my DH, because when Christmas Day came around there was no GPS for DH. One of his gifts from his mother was a pink bunny cookie jar.  Every year, she gets my DH a cookie jar with cookies in it.  FYI, we have way too many damn cookies jars!  Anyhow, the bunny also had a nice flower hat on.  I was kind of shocked.  My MIL also came up to me before my wedding shower and asked if it was OK if she didn't get me a gift for the shower.  I was a little taken back, but said, "OK."  She then went on to say that she wanted to get us a large gift that would be for the wedding and the shower.  I was still a little taken aback, but overall thought that that was OK.  My shower came, and I ended up getting a bag full of little things.  She was in the process of moving and it was like she was just cleaning out her drawers.  We did get a name brand micro-cooker, which I actually use quite a bit.  It was still in the wrapper, but the style was from over 3 years ago.  I did appreciate some of the gifts, but it really was like she was just cleaning out her cupboards and drawers.  Our wedding has come and gone, and we didn't get anything from his mother, not even a card!  Granted, she (well, her new DH, who is filthy rich and whom she decided she had to marry when we got engaged) paid for the rehearsal dinner.  She complained about paying for it after she told us that she wanted to.  But, still, you'd think that we would have at least gotten a card!  Lastly, and this was before I even met my DH, she had gone somewhere and bought two gifts; one for my husband and one for his sister.  She gave DH the opportunity to choose which gift he wanted, and then the other would go to his sister.  His choices were a colored glass purse, or a high heel shoe!!
