Oh, I am so glad I found this website!  I have a MIL who is unbelievable.  I will give a story showing many of her manipulative and pushy ways.  #1.  When DH and I were engaged, we took his mother, brother and BIL's wife to show them the house that we were going to be renting together.  The backyard was pretty big, and as my MIL and I went back there to look around she said, "You know what would be perfect back here?"  I said, "What?"  She answered, "A nanny house."  I was in shock.  This was coming from a family that was independent.  It was almost unbelievable to me that she was already imposing on us.  My GM raised me, and she would have NEVER wanted to impose herself on us that way.  I just smiled and said, "Yeah?"  Later on, as time went by, I found that she would do this more.  The next time was when we were about to buy our first home, about two years later.  We told her that we had found a home in another city that would be about 45 minutes away, but closer to DH's job.  She said, "Well, I guess I could find a job over in the school system over there."  I was thinking, "OK, is this woman is just trying to piss me off, or what?"  Where did she think she would be needed / wanted so close to us?  She still drives me crazy to this day!

DH and I were very excited to be expecting our first child.  We told his parents as soon as we found out, and they seemed pretty excited.  However, throughout my pregnancy neither of them ever bothered to call to see how we were doing.  I was due mid-April.  One day in February, after weeks of not calling, MIL called DH.  Of course, she did not call to see how I was doing.  Rather, she asked DH if I was "planning on having the baby early," because she wanted to go on vacation early in March.  DH became very angry and hung up on his mother, who couldn't for the life of her understand why.  Now, why would anyone PLAN to have their baby 6 weeks prematurely?  Pre-term birth is not something that any mother wants or plans for.  Does the woman not have any sense at all?
