For 10 years DH and I haven't been very close with my FIL and MIL.  When we had our first child, they decided to take a trip to visit us.  They showed up just a couple of days after my DS was born.  I had an extremely difficult labor, and I was in a lot of pain.  As soon as they got there, they offered NO help whatsoever.  If the baby was wet, instead of changing him, MIL would hand him to me and say, "Your baby needs changing."  But, the best part was how she always said, "Well, what is for dinner tonight?"  I'd just had a baby!  I was in pain and I was exhausted.  MIL thought it was time for me to serve her!

Worst gift:  As a wedding present we were given a ton of what I would refer to as "wedding junk".  I would soon learn that this is par-for-the-course with DH's family.  A music box with a wedding poem of some sort, a foam-core board wall plaque with some sort of poem about family on it, etc.  You get the idea.  The piece de resistance was what was in the music box.  We were given two of those stupid cards that have your names on them, and an explanation of the origin of your name.  There were two cards - one with my DH's name, and one with his ex-GF's name!  I didn't say a word.

        Signed - Nameless
