When DD (our only child) was born, DH was holding down a night job.  That means that after I recovered from childbirth, and he went back to work.  I had sole responsibility for the baby.  Generally, this was not a problem, because she was a good baby and was easy to care for.  However, one evening I was sick with a stomach virus and would get nauseated and throw up if I got up and stirred around.  DH really needed to go to his job, and I told him that I'd be all right.  So, he left.  Things were okay until it was time to feed, bathe and put DD to bed in the early evening hours.  I realized that I needed some help, so I phoned MIL, who lived about a mile away.  I asked if she would be able to come and help me get the baby down, which would have taken maybe an hour at the most.  She answered, "No, I'm on my way out the door to a basketball game.  Maybe I'll come by when the game is over."  "Never mind," I told her, and slammed down the phone.  Somehow, I managed to tend to DD.  Then, I crawled back into bed myself.  But, I never forgot her selfishness.

Worst gift:  MIL knows my size, and always got me clothes that fit.  Last year, for my birthday, she got me lingerie that was several sizes too big.  When I told her, she offered to exchange them for my size.  Several weeks later, when I asked her about it, she said that they didn't have any left in my size, so she returned them.  I guess the store didn't carry any other styles (rolls eyes).  I'm sure she got them on sale and didn't want to spend extra $ on me, so she spent none!
