This is kind of a funny story.  Well, it's funny now.  When DD was an infant, we gave her too much baby food with carrots in it.  I started thinking that her skin looked different, not realizing that because of all the carrots, her skin actually took on an orange tint, especially in her face.  DH didn't see anything, so I asked MIL if the baby looked odd to her, too.  She said that the baby's skin tone was darkening, because of her "Italian blood."  One, she's not Italian.  Two, Italian people are not orange.  When we took the baby to the doctor for her regular checkup, the doctor took one look at her and asked if she liked carrots.  Mystery solved.

When I got pregnant, we called my mother, who was so excited she could hardly contain herself.  When we called my DH's mother, she asked if we were sure.  Way to be happy for us, MIL.  It's only your first GC.
